Athlete 2 Coach Program
Not all athletes in our program have the desire to pursue ski racing at the most competitive levels. So, to give our athletes other opportunities to use their talents and learn new skills while maintaining their connection to the program, we have developed an “Athlete 2 Coach” track.
01
Qualifications & Requirements
1. Must have completed 3 years in the WMC Racing program.
2. Must have a coach’s recommendation for the program.
3. Must commit to 20 days of training with WMC Racing for the season.
4. Must be at least 14 years old.
02
Opportunities
Upon successful completion of the program, athletes become eligible to apply for a position with WMC Racing the following season. A2C participants train directly with the Program Director, Head Coaches, and other WMC Racing leaders, gaining internship-style experience in the organizational aspects of running a ski program. This is a great opportunity for 1:1 relationship-building with a Mentor Coach.
Minimum time commitment for completing this program is 20 days.

Trainings
Training will be delivered to both on-line and on-snow. Online training will begin in December and focus on introducing and/or reinforcing key concepts for our athletes. We have webinars and assigned reading (an excellent book on coaching).
On-snow training will begin in mid-December. We will have clinics where candidates will learn about leading classes, providing feedback and about their own skiing. On-snow training also has candidates joining (shadowing) experienced coaches as they lead training sessions.
