Windham Mountain Club’s Intro to Competition program (formerly U8) is designed for motivated 7‑year‑old skiers who are ready to advance beyond recreational skiing and begin exploring competitive snow sports in a supportive, skill‑focused environment.

Through structured training sessions, young athletes develop strong fundamental skills, improve course awareness, build mountain confidence, and experience the value of teamwork. The program emphasizes skill progression, discipline, and a love of challenge while introducing age‑appropriate elements of both racing and freestyle.

Intro to Competition serves as the developmental bridge into WMC’s Racing and Freestyle Team, helping athletes gain the foundation they need for future competitive pathways. These athletes typically participate in three in-house events per season.

All participants must be born in 2019 and be confident intermediate skiers able to make parallel turns on blue terrain and follow coaching directions.

Program Dates: Weekends, December 19th, 2026 – March 14th, 2027. Select holiday camp dates included. No program on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.
Equipment: All mountain skis, boots, poles, helmet, goggles.
Lunch is not included, children are released on their own.
