U10

The U10 Race team is for the budding ski racer looking to explore ski racing beyond the development team. These athletes will begin to explore alpine racing, racing specific skill development, and continue with fundamentals in skiing, athletic and personal growth.

Age: 8-9 years old by Dec 31, 2026 (YOB 2017, 2018)
Requirements: These children must meet the athletic skill and psychological maturity requirements to participate in this program. All children must have at least one year of experience in the development team or equivalent.
Schedule: Saturdays & Sundays, Dec 12, 2026 – Mar 14, 2027. No sessions on Dec 25 or Jan 1.
Duration: 5 hours on-snow plus 1 hour lunch break.
Equipment: Skis, boots, poles, helmet, goggles.
Dismissal: Children are released on their own for lunch and return to training venue.

U12

Children in the U12 Race Team are on the path to becoming dedicated ski racing athletes. The program focuses on developing advanced alpine racing skills while continuing to strengthen fundamental skiing technique, athleticism, and personal growth. U12 athletes begin to explore more structured training environments, including drills, gate training, and skill-based free skiing designed to enhance balance, timing, and tactical awareness.

Age: 10-11 years old by Dec 31, 2026 (YOB 2015, 2016)
Requirements: Athletes must meet the athletic skill and psychological maturity requirements to participate in this program.  NYSSRA and United States Ski and Snowboard (USSS) membership are required. This team requires travel to races outside of Windham. If a family chooses not to travel to a race, there will be no coaching or training provided at Windham over the travel race periods.
Schedule: Saturdays & Sundays, Dec 12, 2026 – Mar 14, 2027. No sessions on Dec 25 or Jan 1.
Duration: 5 hours on-snow and 1 hour lunch break. Exact start time may vary based on hill space assignments.
Equipment: Skis, boots, poles, helmet, goggles, shin guards, and back protector recommended.
Dismissal: Children are released on their own to eat and return to the training venue.

U14

Children in the U14 Race Team typically have previous ski racing experiences and are looking to push their level of racing higher.  The U14 Race Team will focus on advanced alpine racing skills, race tactics, and continue to master fundamentals in skiing, athletics and independence.  U14 athletes are expected to take responsibility for communication (checking messages and updates), manage their ski tuning programs, commit to mid-week independent dryland training, and demonstrate the ability to independently follow directions regarding meeting locations, warm-ups, and maintaining a ski journal.

Age: 12-13 years old by Dec 31, 2026 (YOB 2013, 2014)
Requirements: Athletes must meet the athletic skill and psychological maturity requirements to participate in this program. NYSSRA and United States Ski and Snowboard (USSS) membership are required. This team requires travel to races outside of Windham. If a family chooses not to travel to a race, there will be no coaching or training provided at Windham over the travel race periods.
Schedule: Saturdays & Sundays, Dec 12, 2026 – Mar 14, 2027. No sessions on Dec 25 or Jan 1. Please note that U14s have some post-season races that could potentially keep athletes skiing through the first weekend of April. 
Duration: Total training time with the team is 5 hours, lunch breaks will be short and times will change week to week based on hill space assignments. How the 5 hours are split will also vary week to week. Some weeks we will have longer morning sessions and other weeks we will be on the hill later. We expect our athletes to consistently make time to free ski with teammates outside of our designated training blocks.
Equipment: GS and SL skis, race boots, poles, hard-ear helmet (nothing mounted on it), goggles required, shin guards and back protectors recommended. Super G skis will be needed for certain training please coordinate with coaches on how best to secure skis for these events.

U16-18

Athletes in the U16 Race Team are experienced ski racers dedicated to refining their technical skills, tactical awareness, and competitive mindset. The program emphasizes high-level alpine racing development, physical conditioning, and mental preparation for USSA-level competition. U16 athletes are expected to take full ownership of their communication, equipment management, ski tuning, and mid-week dryland training. They should demonstrate maturity, independence, and accountability in following training plans, attending meetings, and tracking their performance through a ski journal.

Age: 14-17 years old+ by Dec 31, 2026 (YOB 2012 & Older)
